Great Reset And The New Deal After Covid-19

Editor Note
The World Economic Forum prepared a manifesto- like statement and opened the issue of the great reset to discussion. The Great Reset lays out the main idea of rebuilding the world economy and redesigning capitalism in the wake of the Covid- 19 pandemic. The idea is emerging that the biggest crisis after the Great Depression in 1929 is currently being experienced due to Covid- 19 and that Covid- 19 will have very serious and long- term effects on economic growth, public debt, employment, and human welfare. The idea of the Great Reset is explained under seven main headings: capitalizing on the fourth industrial revolution, strengthening regional development, stimulating global cooperation, developing sustainable business models, improving the health of the environment, redesigning social contracts, skills, and jobs, and shaping economic recovery.
According to the fathers of the Great Reset, for the world to recover after Covid- 19, radical changes should be made in many areas from education to social contracts and working conditions, countries should act together, and all industries should be transformed in accordance with new conditions and ways of working. Because the Covid- 19 pandemic will have serious and long- term consequences on economic growth, public debt, employment and human welfare, and these results will increase social tension, combined with the already worsening global warming and environmental problems, the tangle of problems will grow. When increasing income inequality is added to all these, a very fragile economic structure will be encountered and policies to save the day will be insufficient. Therefore, economic, and social systems need to be built from scratch on new foundations.
The digital transformation, which started with the fourth industrial revolution and accelerated during the Covid- 19 process, will cause the growth of technology companies the most. The rapid digital transformation seen in education, health, sports, banking, and e- commerce will increase the importance of the cyber security sector. The companies that grew very fast during the epidemic have been the companies that have adapted to the new trends and provided the best customer service in both in- store and online sales. In this regard, the main idea in micro reset is there is a future after Covid- 19 for companies that can adapt to new trends and make the necessary transformation, but those who cannot adapt will not survive in the post- covid world.

Information technologies used in the production of knowledge are also developing and diversifying day by day. Information technologies have an important role in the formation of today’s living conditions. The increasing prevalence of these technologies helps to improve many jobs and life processes. The Covid- 19 pandemic process, which appears as a period when habits must change, forces individuals to be more careful in all areas. In this process, where we must realize old habits in different ways, the new possibilities offered by information technologies allow us to digitize all processes faster than ever before. By using mobile phones, computers, and tablets without being in physical contact, all information processes can continue without slowing down. According to some opinions, it is thought that the digitalization process has accelerated with the pandemic. When information technologies are mentioned, technologies consisting of hardware, software and networks come to mind. These technologies can be physical as well as non- physical possibilities.
